Discounts? Just For Being a Student?

Every year my school sells SPC cards on registration day. For a long time, I thought that SPC cards were just a waste of money because I thought that they only offered discounts to students at a very small number of stores. But recently, I changed my mind about it.

I recently opened a bank account at the Bank of Montreal (BMO) and they sent me a complimentary SPC card. When I read the info sheet and realized that I could get discounts of up to 20% at many of my favourite stores, I was very surprised and decided to bring my brand new card with me as I was going shopping later that afternoon with my friends.

For every purchase that I made, I presented my SPC card and made instant savings. For example, for that colourful top that costs $20, I saved $2, or for that cute dress that costs $40, I saved $4. It may not seem like a lot but when I added it up at the end of the day; I realized that I had saved more than $15 just because I had used my SPC card. I saved even when I grabbed a bite at Burger King as they offer a 10% discount to SPC cardholders. Honestly, paying $10 for the card is totally worth it in the long run. Or you could even get it for free when you open a savings account at BMO. So get your card and start saving!
